In this paper we propose a model of ontology for the human resource domain. We emphasize the benefits resulting from the application of Semantic Web technologies in the recruitment process. We use currently available standards and classifications to develop a human resource ontology which gives us means for semantic annotation of job postings and applications. Furthermore, we outline the process of semantic matching which improves the quality of query results. Finally, we propose the architecture of an evaluation system based on Semantic Web technologies.human resource ontology, HR-XML, e-recruitment, semantic annotation.

Clinical Pediatric Hospital Sibiu, Center for Research in Neurological Diseases in Children, Sibiu, Romania, Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, Romania, State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Chisinau, Republic of MoldovaInfecţiile de tract urinar reprezintă afecţiuni bacteriene comune în copilărie şi un important factor precipitant al convulsiilor febrile. Urinary tract infections are common bacterial diseases in childhood and a major precipitating factor of febrile seizures. Considering the nonspecific clinical picture of urinary tract infection at an early age, knowing their prevalence in patients with febrile seizures would allow an optimal assessment of the infectious context. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of urinary tract infections among children with febrile seizures. The prospective study included a number of 136 patients hospitalized in the Sibiu Pediatric Hospital with 197 distinct febrile seizures. 20 patients (10.2%) with urinary tract infection were identified, most of them boys (60%). In our group urinary tract infection is the third infectious cause of febrile seizures, after acute upper respiratory tract infection (72.1%) and acute lower respiratory tract infection (14.2%). In the first year of life, urinary tract infection is more frequent in males (80%). One third of patients with urinary tract infection and febrile seizures were oligosymptomatic, with a clinical picture limited to fever. Only 20% of patients had urinary symptoms. The most commonly isolated pathogens were enteric bacteria, respectively E coli (45%), Proteus mirabilis (25%), Enterobacter spp. (10%) and, isolated, Enterococcus spp. The high level of urinary tract infection in patients with febrile seizures, together with the oligosymptomatic or nonspecific clinical picture of urinary tract infection in the young age suggest that urinary tract infection should be considered in all patients with febrile seizures. In conclusion, we recommend routine urine culture in these patients

    No full text
This research was conducted to explore the data analysis techniques applied for analysis of factors which have significant impact on the student’s attitude behind enrollment decision. Data on which such techniques are applied are collected from first year students or last year high school pupils via survey. The results have shown that the most used data analysis techniques are: descriptive statistics, comparing means techniques, correlation, regression, ANOVA, factor analysis, Cronbach alpha. Findings of this study are likely to worn and help higher education institutions to increase institutional knowledge about student’s enrollment decision by results obtained from the application of these techniques, and can be relied to provide a solid base for action (policy and practice development)

Adoption of Green Environmental Practices in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises: Entrepreneur and Business Policies Patterns in Romania

Current research shows that SMEs’ social and environmental actions are fragmented and informal, and few have formal policies and intentions. At the same time, many SMEs are engaged with environmental policies, often not knowing it. Concurrently, there is a gap between the pro-environmental attitudes of the SMEs managers, who are often seen as the main drivers for the firm’s behavior, and the policies implemented in reality in their firms. To this end, our research’s objective is to explore pro-environmental behavior, both at the individual and firm level, to identify connections between these levels and measures but also with firm’s and managers’ demographics, based on a study of Romanian SMEs. The descriptive analysis and factor analysis including tetrachoric correlation methods were used to explore these behaviors and the associations between them. The results confirm the research’s hypothesis and show that there are positive connections between the “green” behaviors at the individual level and in the SME context. Moreover, comparative analysis provided evidence of differences in the adoption of environmental practices, which were based on the firm’s demographics and manager’s characteristics. Simultaneously, five typologies of pro-environmental behavior in SMEs were identified and described, depending on the additional investment necessary and allocated resources, on the changes in organizational structure, and on the manager’s personal involvement. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the environmental improvement policies in SMEs and may help policy-makers tailor interventions and SMEs managers learn from good practices of their peers

Competition in the higher education sector is forcing the higher educational institutions (HEI) to develop more competitive marketing strategies. For developing universities marketing strategies HEI need to understand the student choice process of a university. Understanding university choice process is not easy, this process involves complex decision which affects students’ life (future career, friends, residence, etc.). Therefore, this paper presents a conceptual framework to explore the factors that influence university choice decision, in general, by investigating factors, relevant in literature, which most influence this decision. Among the factors identified are: institutional reputation, cost, employment opportunities, parents’ influence, educational offer, location. This study has been done in order to find the most important factors that influence choice of a university among Romanian students

The literature on the COVID-19 landscape has rapidly expanded in the pandemic period. The current study undertakes a bibliometric analysis of research in the topic of the clinical and laboratory characteristics of pediatric COVID-19 cases. Our aim is to perform a comprehensive bibliometric review of current research trends and patterns of this research domain. Publications retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection and VOSviewer were used for analysis and network visualization. We analyzed geographical distribution and temporal trends, collaboration and citation patterns of authors, institutions, and countries, and core research themes from co-occurrence of keywords and terms. The analysis showed that contributions in the research field were from 302 publications, 1104 institutions, 62 countries, and 172 journals. Many publications were authored by American and Chinese authors, and many were published in the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, Pediatric Pulmonology, and Frontiers in Pediatrics. The top cited and co-cited journals were the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature, JAMA, Lancet Infectious Diseases, and BMJ. The network visualization maps of keywords and terms offered a global overview of the clinical and laboratory characteristics of pediatric COVID-19 patients. The bibliometric profile of the researched domain, based on analyzing a large collection of publications/data, could (i) enrich the researchers and non-researchers understanding of the field existing patterns and trends, and (ii) be useful in clinical practice (diagnostic and management) and public health policy

Analysis of epidemiological and health-economic indicators on ocular trauma involving children is important for developing targeted managerial, medical and educational strategies of health care providers and patients in order to reduce incidence and severity of pediatric ocular trauma. We analysed data collected from 29 children with ocular trauma from Emergency Hospital of Sibiu, between 2008-2016. For this children with closed globe injury it took an average of 7 days of hospitalization (IQR: (5; 9.5)), with a cost per day of hospitalization on average of 127 RON (IQR: (103; 136)), respectively a total hospitalization cost on average 856 RON (IQR: (529; 998)), with no significant gender or area differences. It took a slightly larger number of hospitalization days in the following situations: (1) in the case of mixed trauma compared to lamellar lacerations or contusions; (2) if the affected area was zone III compared to the other two areas (zone I and zone II); (3) where the visual acuity at admission was less than 1/6(0.16) compared to cases with visual acuity greater than 1/6(0.16); (4) in patients with hypertension at admission compared to those with normal tension or hypotension
